The City currently a limit of 2600 square feet inside and outside combined and fewer than 200 patrons for new spaces opening on Whyte Avenue. Blues on Whyte has applied for a zoning change so they can open their large (with permits) patio for the summer which would create a combined inside and outside of 3,410 square feet. Blues on Whyte has long been a favorite live music spot and increasing the patio would allow more people to enjoy the vibes but would also set a precedent for other bars .
With Covid restrictions lifted and warmer weather just around the corner the iconic Blues on Whyte bar is looking forward to a successful spring, summer and autumn season. Only one thing stands in the way....a padlock on the patio gate. Blues on Whyte management will be meeting with city officials to work out the issues and try to find a solution that is good for business and keeps Edmontonians safe.
