Hockey fans in Edmonton have had the privilege of watching some of the greatest hockey players of this modern era. First were those who played with Wayne Gretzky in the Stanley Cup years and most recently are those playing with Connor McDavid who was recognized at he NHL awards last evening. No doubt those wards mean much to Connor but I beleive he and and the rest of the Oilers have another award, the Stanley Cup, in  mind as they think of the 2023/2024 season. Lets go Connor! Lets go Oilers!

Congratulations Connor on a fantastic season!

A hockey game is 60 minutes and the Edmonton Oilers were 16.7 seconds away from chalking up a victory in game one of the this year's Stanly Cup playoffs but then stuff happened. For what reason/s as those last few seconds ticked off Oilers' miscues allowed thE Los Angeles Kings to tie the game and eventually go on to win it in overtime.

Hopefully the lesson from Monday night's loss will work to bring out even better in the home team and they will travel to L.A. with the series tied 1/1. GO OILERS GO!

The Edmonton Oilers started and ended the current hockey season as one the hottest teams in the league. In spite of a mid season slump they still finished the season with 104 points, the highest in 35 years. But starting today all that goes into the history books and a 2nd season, the NHL playoffs begin tonight against the Los Angeles Kings.

Its spring and playoff time so we can expect to see orange & blue coming out in full array and blossoming throughout the city. There will be the jerseys, car flags, banners, watch parties, Oilers broadcasts in restaurants & bars, increased media coverage and a general mood of excitement and optimism in the city as even even non hockey fans cheer on the Oilers & Edmonton.

With the Edmonton Oilers  riding a six game wining streak and playoff hopes clearly in sight there are some key players that the focus will shine brighter upon the next few weeks, including Darnell Nurse, their number #1 defenceman. Darnell Nurse is big in stature and plays big minutes, he's fast and an excellent puck carrier.

Steven Sandor's excellent article below gives us a broader glimpse into other factors in the life and times of Darnell Nurse.
