Edmonton Police sponsored a contest for the ideas on how to thwart the theft of catalytic converters. Ideas poured in from many countries but the winner of the Edmonton Police Foundation’s $50,000 Catalytic Converter Challenge was two Edmontonians, Mavis Shaw and her daughter Tamara Dolinsk.

The mother and daughter invention duo are willing to show the FoilemFence off and explain how it came to be since it is now patent pending. This is a great story about creativity and innovation and we sincerely hope the mother/daughter duo well and that the thefts of catalytic converters are stymied.

Mavis Shaw and her daughter Tamara Dolinsky's "Foilemfence" was the product that was chosen as the best to prevent thefts of catalytic converters. Catalytic converter theft is on the increase globallyand was reflected in the 240 proposals from around the world. The winning duo are awaiting patent confirmation and when they get that hopefully their "Foilemfence" will help put a stop to these thefts not only in Edmonton, but globally. Congratulations Mavis and Tamara.
