RAZED PARADISE AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT

Joni Mitchell's 1970 hit song BIG YELLOW TAXI  contained the line "They paved paradise and put up the parking lot." Edmonton Councilor Ashley Salvador is singing a different tune about the gravel and parking lots that take up significant space in and around Edmonton’s downtown area. Councilor Salvador claims many of the lots are operating illegally without the proper permits and aren’t paying their fair share of taxes while speculating on land that could be redeveloped and used for a better purpose.
