OILERS WIN ONE FOR JAY WOODCROFT BUT NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET

If you're an Edmonton Oilers fan you know the season hasn't gone the way many hoped and predicted it would go. Instead of being a bona fide "Stanley  Cup" contender the Oilers will have to have a winning record the remainder of the season to even make the playoffs.

The Oilers lack of on ice success this season has cost Dave Tippet and Jim Playfair their coaching jobs which has given Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson opportunity to turn the club around and make for a playoff run. Even though the Oilers have a lot of "on ice" talent to work with there may be further moves in the offing. There's still a lot of hockey to play so hopefully the Oilers will find a way to win as quite a few more than they lose.

Do you think the Oilers will make the playoffs this year?

    • Jay Woodcroft has been someone I've periodically followed as coach for the Bakersfield Condors. I've appreciated his heart for the team and the community it represents.  He has an uncanny ability to articulate his perspective and philosophy of the game.  He often tends to use metaphors and symbolism to crystalize the concepts he communicates.  See the key talking points from his first press conference as Oiler's head coach.
