HAVE SERVICE DOG & HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING A TAXI
Those of us who are mobile have a hard time relating to the difficulties someone who lacks mobility encounters every day. This is compounded when one is dependent on other services for transportation help. Such is the testimony of Marla Smith and her service dog Kuno who waited about two hours for a taxi last Friday. One company told her they were having trouble getting a pet friendly unit that can take the service dog a taxi. Under Alberta's service dog act, a service dog can use any cab whether it's pet friendly or not.
Social media has brought attention to this but it may backfire on other people who are in a similar situation and may need to call a taxi. Alberta's service dog act seems to address the need, now it just needs to be enforced.
