Edmontonians have long cherished the river valley and many question why and what difference would the river valley becoming an Urban Park make? The Federal Government is known for wanting something in return for anything they give/do so the question that must be answered is what will it cost Edmontonians for making the river valley an urban national park?
Although Mayor Sohoi has been a major proponent of Edmonton's river valley becoming a National Urban Park he remains adamant that the City would remain in control. The idea has moved along quite far and without much public awareness, discussion and/or input.

Edmonton's river valley is a jewel that Edmontonians enjoy in may ways. Whether its hiking, running, mountain biking or taking in the sights the valley and its many trails beckon many each day. Recreational users and conservationists have voiced their concern and are awaiting a comprehensive trail strategy and well-designed, well-maintained trail system.
