Things To Do This Week

Things to do this week: Heritage Festival, CATVIDEOFEST, River Watch Eco Floats, and more!

  • Travel the world at the Heritage Festival (Edmonton EXPO Grounds)

    • My favourite food festival of the year—Heritage Festival—returns this long weekend (Aug 5-7) at a new location the Edmonton EXPO Grounds / Borden Park. This three-day multicultural celebration features food, displays and cultural performances and this year is their 50th anniversary! Find food-on-sticks from all sorts of regions around the world (and more lol). I’ve actually been asked to be one of their judges so I am looking forward to sharing my favourite picks (watch for that on social media!)

  • Catch one of many music festivals happening around town (various locations)

    • Ahead of Edmonton Folk Fest (next week), there are a ton of other music festivals happening around the city this week! Consider checking out the Blueberry Musical Festival in Stony Plain or the Pigeon Lake Music Festival both happening Aug 4-6, or Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose (Aug 3-6)

  • Dance it up at Disco in the Park (Louise McKinney Riverfront Park)

    • Okay this also counts as a music festival but I thought I’d break it out on its own since it’s in Edmonton proper. Check out the line-up and get tickets for Disco in the Park! New this year there will also be roller disco!!

  • Book a River Watch EcoFloat (North Saskatchewan River)

    • The River Watch Institute of Alberta is back this summer with Ecofloats! Join the city's certified and official river guides as they take you on a safe, fun and personalized rafting experience down the North Saskatchewan River. It's a great guided intro to river activities, well priced with lots of date options but they do sell out fast so be sure to snag August spots before they're gone.

  • Check out the CAT VIDEO FEST (The Metro Cinema, 8712 109 St.)

    • CATVIDEOFEST is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos, shared on the big screen at The Metro Cinema this Aug 5 and 7, in partnership with Community Cats Edmonton (who will receive a portion of ticket sale!) Having fun. Helping cats. Don't miss this!

  • Pick up some gifts at Stationary Store Day (Majesty & Friends, 12024 107 Ave)

    • Majesty & Friends in Manchester Square is hosting a Stationary Store Day event on Aug 5 from 11-5 p.m. There will be swag bags for the first 25 attendees, free gift wrapping, greeting card design station, cotton candy, local makers, a raffle and more! Perfect for stationary lovers. Plus you can get 10% off with my code LINDORK!

  • Cheer on the Edmonton Stingers in their Playoff Game!

    • The Edmonton Stingers (our local basketball team!) is doing SO well—they’ve made it to the playoffs again this year and the first playoff game is this Friday. Although not in Edmonton, there will be an Official Watch Party at 1ST RND. It's from 6-9 p.m. on Fri, Aug 4 (game starts at 7 p.m.)  Unfortunately no other playoff games will take place in Edmonton but can’t wait for next year!
