The Church in the Vine was charged with denying entrance to an inspector three times in 2020 and 2021. They were originally found guilty in July and ordered a fine of $65,000 plus a $15,000 victim surcharge. Church in the Vine appealed the decision but the original charge and fines were upheld by Court of King’s Bench on October 21st.
Two Edmonton pastors have been convicted of six counts of obstructing a public health inspector in March and June of 2021. A sentencing hearing is set for May 25 and because the Public Health Act increased penalties in 2021 first-time violators face a maximum fine of $100,000 and $500,000 for subsequent offences.
