Edmonton Elks have had a nightmare season that is not over year yet. The Elks have failed thus far to win a game in the 2023 season or a home game since since Oct. 12, 2019 and today they announce the parting of ways with team president Victor Cui. Since Victor Cui was not on the field for any of the game losses it remains to be seen if his parting will have any effect on the win/loss column. The Elks will name an interim president and CEO the next two or three weeks and a permanent replacement around year's end.
There was a time when the Edmonton Eskimos were a perrenial winning team and filled the stands of Commonwealth Stadium often. That certainly hasn't been the case since they changed names and have failed to win home games and/or make the playoffs. The past few years there has been a yearly decline in attendance and hopefully a winning team and record will bring the fans back.
Today is the 2nd game of the Oilers/Kings playoff series and with all the media coverage and hoopla surrounding that its easy to forget that Edmonton has another great team to cheer on, the Edmonton Elks.
Yesterday the new name, a new front office and coaching staff met to make their 10 selections in the CFL draft. The first pre-season game is Friday, May 27th against Winnipeg Blue Bombers last year's Grey Cup champs. The official season begins June 11th and ends October 21st, both games against the BC Lions. Check the full schedule and purchase tickets to games you want to attend or season tickets for what looks to be a much impoved season.
