Canada's Marco Arop struck gold in the men's 800 metres at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday.
For the first time ever Canada has won a gold medal in the 800M final at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Marco Arop is ranked as the worlds top-ranked 800 runner.

The World Athletics Championship which is held every two years showcases the world's best track and field athletes. To qualify for the semifinals at this level of competition is what athletes train for and focus on and Edmonton's Marco Arop is now among that elite group who will run in the 800m semifinal on tomorrow and hopefully the 800m final on Sunday.
