I recently read a book which contained the quote of an American educator who when asked about the importance of reading said, "Up to third grade we learn to read, and after third grade we read to learn.” Although the American educator's focus was on the importance of reading it does underscore how important it is for children to get a good grounding in their subjects and parents helping their children with homework plays a very important role in that.
