Edmonton's refineries are like double edged swords. The refineries create an economic windfall by way of high paying jobs, tax and value added revenues. As the years have gone by more questions have been raised, monitoring and research done to determine the detrimental health effects of refinery emissions.
The refineries like many other industries, technologies, methodologies, products, etc. are now having to contend with problems and issues they weren't aware of or even anticipated when they were introduced into the marketplace. We are gaining kjnowledge we never had before about so many things and it is these new findings we must contend with.
