STUDY RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING THE EDMONTON LAW COURTS BUILDING DELAYED UNTIL SPRING 2024
The current Edmonton Law Courts building was built about 50+ years ago in an era when construction techniques and is showing its age. Since the Law Courts building was originally opened crime and lawlessness has increased in frequency and types. The age of the building and increase in usage due to the increase in crime has rendered the building in dire need of upgrading, expanding or replacing. The Alberta government has allotted $3 million to study capacity issues, updating technology and safety and security concerns in the Law Courts building. Recognizing the need for further analysis the Province has extended the study until spring 2024.
