KAL TIRE LAUNCHES A COUNTER OFFENSIVE TO INCREASING CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS

Catalytic converyers can bring a good dollar to thieves and for that reason theft of catalytic converters continues to increase. To replace caatlytic converters can be quite expensive to the vehicle owner and for that reason there has been a number of initiatives to deter thieves. 

One of the latest is a collaboration among Kal Tire, AMA and Edmonton Police Services to launch an engraving program for catalytic converters similar to programs in Calgary, Camrose, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. If an engraved catalytic converter is stolen, police can link the engraved VIN to the crime, and hold thieves and makes scrap metal recyclers accountable.
