WHY WON'T EDMONTON PUBLIC SCHOOL TRUSTEES SUPPORT STUDENT RESOURCE OFFICERS?
A recent report provides evidence that there is both a need and support for Student Resource Officers (SROs). After the George Floyd incident in 2020 the trustees put the SRO program on hold. The report indicates that since then a sizable number of students have said they had been threatened, physically attacked, in a physical fight, robbed, sexually harassed or assaulted at school. Current students said they feel less safe since the since the SROs were axed.

The report seems to indicate that it may be time trustees revisit having SROs in schools. What do you think?
