CITY COUNCIL ASKED TO RECONSIDER ASPECTS OF SOUTHWEST LRT EXTENSION
City Administration must have tuned into the old saying about being "nickled & dimed" to death because they are asking City Council to consider ways to cut or defer some aspects of the Southwest LRT Extension. In 2020 it was estmated the extension would cost approximately $1 Billion dollars but commodity price increases, inflation, supply chain disruption and skilled labour costs have rendered those estimates obsolete.
The public was asked for input and feedback in the beginning and at various stages up to January of 2023 before the cost overruns were known and/or shared. It may be time for another public hearing o the matter.
Being that every dollar the city spends comes from the taxpayer do you think the public should be consulted again regarding the cost overruns on the Southwest LRT extension?
