ELLERSLIE RUGBY PARK WILL CLOSE AFTER 50 YEARS

When the Ellerslie Rugby Park opened as a regional rugby hub in the 1970s rugby was a fledgling sport. Since the opening of the park rugby has grown in popularity and new clubhouses have been built around the city which helped put the park out of business.

Park ownership is planning to sell the park and money from the sale will go to funding rugby in the city for clubs and schools.The first weekend in October will be devoted to saying goodbye to rugby at the Ellerslie Rugby Park and everyone is welcome to attend.
