STUDENTS MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO ASBESTOS DUST

Last spring towards the end of last year's school term a pipe burst in Greenfield School and drywall had to be replaced. A third party was contracted to finish the work and while doing so they failed to do proper asbestos remediation and as a result some asbestos dust escaped into a confined area. Air quality tests have since been conducted and the school has been determined to be safe.

Greenfield School like many schools in Edmonton, across Alberta and all of Canada were built when asbestos was widely used and before its dangers were known. If and when left undisturbed it remains unharmful and removing it would cost billions of dollars.
